Terms of service

These terms are the agreement between you and PlatePack. By using the site or creating an account, you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use PlatePack.

What PlatePack is

PlatePack is a recipe book whose recipes adapt to calorie and protein goals. Browsing recipes, the calorie dial, cook mode, and a personal collection are free, and are intended to stay free. Some future features may be paid; we will say clearly which, before you are asked to pay for anything.

Nutrition and health

PlatePack is not medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. The calorie and macronutrient figures shown are estimates, calculated from an ingredient database and from the quantities in each recipe. Real ingredients vary, and so does what actually ends up in your pan. Do not rely on these numbers for any medical purpose.

If you have a health condition, a food allergy, an intolerance, or you are pregnant, talk to a qualified professional before changing what you eat. Always check the ingredient list yourself if you have an allergy— our tags and dietary labels are a convenience, not a guarantee, and we cannot account for how a product was manufactured or how a kitchen is run. You are responsible for cooking food safely.

Your account

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. This matches our Privacy policy, which explains what we collect and why.

You need a working email address to create an account, and you are responsible for keeping access to that address secure — anyone who can read your email can request a sign-in code. Accounts are for individual people. Tell us promptly if you think someone else is using yours.

You can delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that is being used to break these terms or to harm the service or other people.

Acceptable use

• Do not use PlatePack for anything unlawful.
• Do not attempt to break, overload, or circumvent the service's security or rate limits, or access accounts and data that are not yours.
• Do not scrape or bulk-copy the curated recipe catalogue. Saving recipes for your own cooking is exactly what the product is for; republishing the catalogue is not.
• Do not upload content you do not have the right to use.

Content

The curated recipes, the writing, the design, and the software are ours or our licensors'. Anything you create — your own recipes, notes, and customisations — stays yours. You give us the permission we need to store it, show it back to you, and, if you choose to share something, show it to the people you share it with. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

Recipe pages include structured data so you can import a recipe into a nutrition tracker. That is intended, and you are welcome to use it for your own tracking.

Third-party services

Signing in with Google or Apple means their terms and privacy policies apply to that part of the process. Links to other sites are not endorsements, and we are not responsible for what is on them.

Availability

PlatePack is provided as-is and as-available. We do not promise it will always be online, error-free, or that any particular recipe or feature will remain. We may change or discontinue features; if we are shutting something down that holds your data, we will give you a way to get it out first.

Liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, PlatePack is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for any loss arising from your reliance on nutrition estimates. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, we change the effective date and the version number at the top of this page. If a change is material and you have an account, we will tell you. Continuing to use PlatePack after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. If you live somewhere with consumer protections that cannot be waived, those still apply to you.
